Ombre is such a beautiful effect! This month on our Technique Tuesdays we will look at how you can create that ombre look in your lettering with your Tombow markers!

Choose two Tombow markers that are a lighter shade and a darker shade of the same color. So in my example, I chose a light blue and a dark blue. The more contrast between the shades, the more noticeable the ombre will be.

Uncap your markers and hold your markers so that they are horizontal with the darker shade on top and the lighter shade on bottom.

Determine how much pigment you want to transfer to the lighter color. So if you lightly touch the tips of the markers quickly, not as much pigment will transfer as if you hold the tips together for several seconds. Experiment to see the different!
Determine how far you want the darker pigment to go. If you just touch the tips, your lettering with have a dual tone look like in the picture below, with half you line a lighter shade and half your line a darker shade. If you let the markers touch further down, then you won't have the two-tone look!

Now for the magic! Write a word with your lighter color marker (the one that you held on bottom and accepted the pigment). Experiment and play with this effect! It is so soothing!
Thank you for taking the time to read this article! I will see you next week for our next technique Tuesday post!
